The Local Region

Our Location

A safe, quiet village – Le Quiou – located within fifteen minutes’ drive of Dinan, with a crêperie and a bar opposite our centre.  We also have the 14th Century Château du Hac, a Roman archaeological villa and a water sports centre at nearby Bétineuc Lake.

FERRY PORTS: We are 40km inland from St Malo – just over 30-minutes-drive from the ferry terminal. St Malo is easily accessible from the UK with ferries from Portsmouth, Weymouth, Poole and Plymouth. The ferry ports of Cherbourg, Caen and Le Havre are also easily accessible.

AIRPORTS: We are a short distance to Dinard (flights to Leeds Bradford, East Midlands and Stansted) and Rennes (Southampton).

With its famous coastline and vast and attractive countryside, les Côtes d’Armor offer a mixture of sporting, cultural and unusual activities.

Its rich history and cultural heritage is an ideal backdrop to both sightseeing and linguistic experience. Within walking distance of our centre, children can engage in water sports on the Bétineuc lake; a little further afield, attractions such as visits to the oyster beds, historical castles, the famous Barrage de la Rance, the legendary Mont St Michel, the imposing towns of Dinan, Léhon and Saint Malo with their superb medieval timbered houses, small alleyways, harbour and craft shops.

Brittany is a most fascinating part of the world where the history of Britain and France has been interwoven for hundreds of years and the preservation of the castles and monuments is remarkable. In addition the area has more than its fair share of museums both ancient and modern. The almost traffic free roads and green ways make cycling a pleasure and cycle hire is available from the centre.

The coastline provides an endless variety of sandy beaches within 35 minutes drive, ranging from fashionable resorts, secluded bays and dramatic cliffs to quaint harbours. We also have ruggedly exposed rocky shores such as Pointe de Grouin and Cap Frehel, a setting for many period dramas. As well as these seaside activities, natural reserves and leisure parks are also all on our doorstep!  There is something to suit all tastes and requirements.
